North Walsham has a long history of Nonconformity. The Congregationalists formed their first permanent church in a barn in Bradfield. In North Walsham a chapel was built in Vicarage Street in 1809 and this Neo-Gothic style church was built on the Cromer Road in 1857 for £1,200 and a new organ was added in 1883 for a further £250.
